We’re far more interested in your skills and desire to help than your money.
Volunteer Abroad in Tanzania Summer 2022
What are the basis to elective abroad in Tanzania in the Summer of 2022? You could be asking yourself this question at this point in time. With thousands of other electiveing destination in the world, one could wander as to why destination Tanzania. Today I am going to take you though some of the grounds that Volunteers use to pick destination Tanzania.
In recent years Volunteer programs in Tanzania have witnessed a steady increase in the number Participants. This alone is an Important signal that destination Tanzania has something special to offer and hence one shouldn’t hesitate to decide on the preference of many i.e destination Tanzania. However KIVOLEX Volunteers went further to dig out core seasons that our Volunteers are using to deciding on destination Tanzania. Our Volunteers reasonings were grouped into five groups as seen below:-
- Location
- Programs
- Skills and language
- Tourist attractions
- Affordability
The location
Location is an important factor in motivating participants to elective abroad in Tanzania in the summer of 2022. Tanzania is located in the Eastern, Southern part of Africa. Tanzania is bordering several East, Central and south African countries. These countries include Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, DRC, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique. Most of these countries are also attractive tourist destinations and hence Tanzania offers easy access to any of these Countries. On the Eastern side Tanzania is blessed to be on the shores of the mighty Indian Ocean.
Tanzania is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Africa. Most of our Volunteer programs are located in Tanzania’s economic capital City Dar-Es-Salaam. Dar-es-salaam is the biggest and most populous City in East and Central Africa. Located on the shores of the Indian ocean and just a few Kilometers from the famous and attractive Island of Zanzibar, Dar-es-salaam geographical location is ideal for electiveing and holidays in general. It is in close proximity to the equator providing constant moderate weather through the year.
The Programs
Our range of Volunteer programs in Tanzania is diverse. We have Over 30 elective programs in Tanzania distributed across three Big Cities. Our Programs locations Include Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar and Arusha. Below we are going to see just some of these Programs, however to learn more about our Volunteer Programs, kindly visit our Program page. KIVOLEX projects for elective abroad in Tanzania summer 2022 programs are the same like in other years. As usual electives have four projects to choose from. These projects include the following.
- Teaching elective program
- Healthcare Volunteer Program
- Orphanage elective program
- Special need education elective program
Teaching Volunteer Program
Our Teaching Volunteer Program in Tanzania is one of the most Basic and Oldest Volunteer Program. Our Volunteer placements are distributed in both primary and secondary schools in the outskirt of Dar-es-salaam, Arusha and Zanzibar Cities. Moreover we also offer our Volunteers placements in orphanage schools. Most Schools in Tanzania are without proper and adequate teaching equipment. They also don’t have enough qualified and Competent teachers. Your skills and efforts are highly desired in this Program, to foster the improvement of education provision.
Healthcare Volunteer Program
Our Healthcare or Medical Volunteer Program in Tanzania is one of the most rewarding Volunteer Programs. This Program gives unique opportunity of experiencing and leaning to healthcare practitioners, Medical Students, Pre-medical students and even those who which to do Elective and Internship abroad. Our Hospitals and Medical Centers are carefully vetted to meet the needs and requirements of our Volunteers, Interns and students.
Orphanage Volunteer Program
To many the rational of Volunteering Abroad is giving back to those who don’t have. Orphans are classified as being into a group of children that lack basic needs and necessities. This notion is without a doubt making our Orphanage elective Program one of the Core Volunteer Programs. Your decision to elective abroad in Tanzania in summer 2022 is in most cases based on wanting to give back. Hence if such is a case then our Orphanage Volunteering Program is offering you that Opportunity. Our Volunteers helps with the general well being of Orphans and the Orphanage. Volunteers would assist in conducting classes, cleaning the children, feed them and any other activity that would require their skills and expertise.
Special Need Education Volunteer Program
Our Special Needs Volunteer Program has always achieved the status of being the Most rewarding Program of all. If you ever looked for a Program that will take you down to earth, then this is the Program. Our special needs program places electives into special need schools, that accepts mentally retarded Children. Teaching them how to feed themselves, how to Speak and how to walk is the best way of leaving such a big mark in the world. It is a great way to make a difference into the lives of those so unfortunate.
The skills & language
Unlike other elective abroad opportunities were emphasis is focused on elective’s skills, ability and command of a specific language, our Programs puts less emphasis on those attributes. We believe that every individual has the right to participate in elective Programs. Lack of a specific skill shouldn’t hinder Ones desire to giving back. No matter how unskillful you are, we will somehow find something for you to be useful. Moreover you don’t have to be a native English speaker to be considered in our programs.
Tourist Attractions
Tanzania on being one of the tourist giants of Africa has also contributed to elective’s preference over destination Tanzania. Tanzania offers you the most efficient way to Travel, by doing both Charity work and Tourism at a go. Generally most electives have decided on destination Tanzania as their preferred Volunteering destination because of what Tanzania has to offer in term of tourist attractions. The Great Mt Kilimanjaro, The Serengeti, The Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar Island, these are few of many tourist attractions in Tanzania.
Affordability
KIVOLEX is a locally based organization with only support staff in the western world in term of past electives. This has helped us to avoid large Administrative cost and hence lower electiveing cost. Unlike other elective abroad organizations based in the western world and remotely control programs Abroad, we are on the group and on site. These Organizations charge large sum of electiveing fee usually hidden in Administration fee. You will only get to know about such fees, when you sign for the programs. This is very different with KIVOLEX, we are a locally based organization, we live the programs we are recruiting electives for. We don’t charge anything in excess, we only charge for your living expenses and you Program donation. Hence our prices are always affordable for all Volunteers.

The house also includes one double bedroom, and this room is generally reserved for married couples. The house is safe and secure, with a security guard and a large gate. Your daily schedule may change, as well, so you’ll need to be flexible and ready to adjust.
Free Time Activities and Trips
KIVOLEX anticipates and encourages your desire for travel and adventure. Your time away from electiveing is open for you to decide your activities. You may decide to take advantage of the local culture and spend time within the community over the weekend. Otherwise, there is ample opportunity to explore Tanzania and all it has to offer. Long weekends can be taken to go on safari or to travel further afield to places such as Zanzibar, Dar-es-salaam, Kenya or Uganda. If electives wish to elective over the weekends they can join local teams and visit other children organizations to spend time simply playing with and entertaining the children.
Tanzania is a big country full of exciting adventure. If you want to stay on in country after electiveing, we’ll help you arrange any number of trips and activities. You can go on safari through the Serengeti or Ngorogoro- which has the highest density of safari animals anywhere on earth. You can relax on the spice island of Zanzibar, taking in non stop sun, white beaches and clear blue seas. Swimming with dolphins, PADI dive courses, spear gun fishing, sleeping in hammocks strung between palm trees on the beach.. We like Zanzibar! If physical adventure is more your thing, Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world is right on your doorstep. A five day climb, and nearly 4 miles high, with temperatures down to minus 25 at the summit, it’s not for the faint of heart, but it can be done.

PAST VOLUNTEER REVIEWS

To sum it all up, it was a memorable and valuable experience, the rotation of work at the hospital was very nice; examination, scaling, fillings and extraction were among the activities we did. It was so nice to learn of the Tanzania dental clinic setup. Accommodation was very fine bedroom, food and bathrooms were all in good condition. Innocent our local coordinator is a very friendly and nice person. He helped us with almost everything and made our stay in Tanzania very comfortable. We also had a wonderful experience going for Safari and learning of the local culture.
Katie A, Australia. Volunteered in 2021
Loved my experience with KIVOLEX. I got to help out in the emergency department, pediatric/male/female wards and the maternity department of the hospital. I witnessed/assisted with natural births, as well as witnessed c-sections in theatre. The people at the hospital were fabulous, as was Innocent and Angel (at the elective house). The food was excellent, as was the accommodation. Lots of activities to do in spare time, I went up to Arusha to do safaris, and Kilimanjaro, and spent a lot of time with coworkers at the hospital. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was getting the bus to and from work – if you can organise a driver then I would recommend doing that. I would do this experience again, without a shadow of a doubt, and highly recommend it!
Heidi L, Denmark. Volunteered in 2021
The people at KIVOLEX are kind and helpful. My friends and I had a good time as KIVOLEX electives. It was my very first trip to Africa, and I would definitely want to go back. It was my dream to one day work in Africa and in exact environment KIVOLEX took me. As a nurse student I had not only a learning experience but also a working one, although supervised but at times they would let me practice as a nurse and get that feeling of being registered and licensed nurse. The hospital is a very good place to learn and grow as a junior nurse from abroad. If you are looking to learning and get experience in a different environment outside your comfort zone, then Tanzania is a place to be. Cardinal Lugambwa Hospital introduced to almost everything I wished to experience.
Sarah W, USA. Volunteered in 2021
This trip is a life changing and it actually made me believe there is a whole other world outside the United States. Life is completing different in Dar Es Salaam, everything about it. The food, the people, traditions and overall dynamics are different from the USA. At the clinic the kinds were wonderful; they changed me in several aspects. Kids with their parents visited the clinic for treatment but to see them having fun with a big smile on their faces was just wonderful. I integrated with these kids and created a very strong bond and I am so grateful for that. Recording their vital sign like heart beat, temperature and taking their weight was just amazing. I strongly recommend this trip to anyone who likes to deal with kids in a child and maternal health department of a hospital.
